Chibi sunny and anime

Hi guys, just a short post today as I'm knackered.

Chibi sunny went really well- wasn't sure what to expect as I'd never been to an anime convention before but I got a really positive response, sold a few items and have had some orders since!
My current project after this is to make some different anime and manga characters as I noticed it's specific characters that people are wanting. I started on togepi (from pokemon) last night which I've been meaning to do for ages and spent a lot longer than anticipated on it!-the egg shell patterns are so hard to get right in origami which is quite frustrating but it's getting there. Not going to do anymore today as I need a break but will hopefully get that finished this week and post up a picture soon.

Even though thne temptation to fold paper is great I won't do anymore today- I need a break!

British crafters and blog request models!

My share on the british crafters page yesterday managed to get 15 likes which I'm pretty happy with and I got a few more followers which is always nice!

If you would like a look at my facebook page the link is https://www.facebook.com/debstuff1?ref=hl#!/debstuff1

The old name for my page was 'Debstuff' before it became 'Just So Studios' which is why that's the name of the link!

Also, I'm thinking I may do a few request/challenge 3d origami models in a couple of weeks once I've got the anime convention out of the way, so if you would like to challenge me to make something then comment on this post! I'll pick my favourite/the most possible and post photos of the results in a few weeks!

Dragons

The weather otday is terrible so the museum is pretty quiet. Decided to make the most of this by folding the paper for another dragon and actually making it!

It looks a little flat at this stage and always takes a lot of incentive to actually continue folding! I would love an origami paper folding machine to do it for me but sadly they haven't yet been invented... And so I do it myself. Anyway after a few hours folding and making the paper turns into this:

I changed the design of the dragon's body this time as the head was bigger than the body on previous designs. So the body in this dragon starts with an 8 base, gradually goes out to a 12 and back to an 8 again. I think it looks a lot better :)

Oh also, I got a share on the british crafters facebook page this morning with my strawberry dragon! I've been shared on there a few times but it's always exciting when it happens! If you haven't seen their page before and are a crafter (or even if you're not) then it's well worth a look as they post a theme each day which you submit a creation for from which they pick the best to go on their page for the day. People can then like and comment on the shares and the one with the most likes gets pinned to the top of the page at the end of the day! It hasn't happened with any of my creations yet but you never know!

Wednesday 4 September 2013

Had quite an exciting day yesterday- I wasn't in work (at our museum) as I was allowed a day off but when mum and my sister got home they told me they had had someone in from the british origami society! I was sorry I missed them! but looks like I may be joining- apparently they also said that I should exhibit/demonstrate at the convention in Birmingham next year!- so watch this space!
Also, here is a picture of the Geisha I made the other day- since then I have made another one in red.

Anyway, time to go back to making- sold one of my dragons yesterday that was intended for the anime convention so had to make up for that earlier by making another one and still have to catch up with my "model a day on workdays" target as I made nothing yesterday!- time to fold paper for an origami cake methinks!

Dragons and Geishas

Dragons and Geishas

Had a busy couple of days making- decided I need to make at least one item a day until the anime convention so spent yesterday making another mario mushroom which I think has turned out well!

Here are the photos of the strawberry dragon as promised and also some of a blue dragon I made a little while ago- both going to the convention but can be made to order!

Today I have spent making a Geisha girl- the photos are very slow to upload however and I have to leave very soon so will attach that to my next post!
Also, exciting news!- I emailed craftseller magazine asking if I could be featured and they said they will include my letter in a future issue!- will be interesting to see how that turns out!

Anyway, have to go now!

Wednesday 28 August 2013

Hello everyone!
Got a busy few weeks ahead as I'm preparing for Chibisunny- a daylong anime convention organised through sunnycon. Getting slightly stressed as I have loads to do but I'm sure I'll get there. Here are some photos of my work!

A Mushroom in its own little PVC Jute bag!- I love these bags- took me a while to find them but now I use them a lot!- they're ideal for holding the models and look great too!

A varied colour mushroom!

I invented this model a while ago- I did english literature and creative writing at uni and am a massive fan of alice in wonderland so when I created my bunny models I thought I must do the white rabbit. Also discovered I had some pocket watch necklace charms in my jewellery making stash which came in very handy!

The dragons have to be my favourite so far though!- I created this design after a craft fair I did in Hexham where a guy thought my swans were dragons and told me I should make some!- so glad I did. I also decided to varnish them as it gives them a nicer appeal and makes the colours tsand out more. Gloss Mod podge is amazing for that!- need to buy some more as I've almost run out!
I've made some other colour dragons too (including a strawberry one!) but don't have my camera with me to take photos. I'll do that another day!

I have made some other models but will shocase them another day. Right now it's time for model making (and lunch soon!) Going to make Ash Ketchum! Goodbye all!

Hello, this is my first ever blog!
My name is Deborah and I work in our family museum in Haltwhistle, Northumberland- Mr George's Museum of Time. When I'm not busy there I love crafting and have recently set up Just So Studios. I make novelty crafts but my main craft is 3D Origami which I learnt from youtube tutorials!

I started by making other people's models but after a while started designing my own so that my things are unique and non-copyright!
The rabbits have been my biggest sellers and I love making them!
